It's here - Spring has sprung in the gorgeous Lower Mainland of BC. We are truly blessed with our weather. I don't know about you, but Spring feels like a renewal and it motivates to organize, de-clutter and clean for the warmer months ahead. It is also the perfect time to refresh your home and give certain areas such much needed TLC.
The idea of tackling these chores can feel overwhelming, along side the busyness of daily life - but it can be fairly painless. Here are a few tips to get you started:
Get Yourself Pumped UP, and Moving:
Listening to music is a great way to get energized and motivated to take on any task. It envokes happiness which can help you the job done faster and make the process more bearable. You can actually trick yourself into thinking you are doing something enjoyable!
A big part of cleaning process is organizing and getting rid of clutter. Here are a few de-cluttering tips:
- When deciding what to keep and what to throw out, keep the things that make you happy :). Do not focus on how much something cost, rather if it serves you well.
- Go through indivdual cabinets and drawers and throw out anything that has not been used in the last year.
- Make sure you throw away any expired medications, beauty products, and cleaning solutions.
Consider the Weather:
Some projects are better done in the sunshine, while others should be left for cloudy, cooler days.
Warm weather ~ Save the outdoor and garage cleaning for bright warmer days, this will make it more enjoyable.
Cooler weather ~ Wait for a cloudy day to wash windows...if it's sunny and too warm, the cleaning solution will dry too fast and you might end up with streaks.
Make a To-Do List:
Do a walk-thru of your home and list all the tasks that you need to accomplish. Prioritize your tasks, starting with the most daunting. Getting the big projects out of the way first will help keep you motivated to carry on with other tasks.
